The Egg Harbor City Knights had everything working on Monday, winning their season opener against the Galloway Mustangs 8-2.
The Knights got on the board early due to an error and never looked back. They put up four more runs in the fourth inning to secure the lead for good. The rally was led singles by Steven Petrosh and Johnny Newman, and a fielder’s choice by Vincent Letiza.
Josh Wagner earned the big win for Egg Harbor City allowing six hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out eight.
Petrosh led The Knights with two hits in three at bats. Egg Harbor City tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Letiza led the way with two swipes.
The Galloway Mustangs totaled six hits in the game. Samuel Munez lead the way going 2 for 4. The Knights are up next at the South Jersey Surf tonight. Galloway plays Ventnor on Friday.
