The South Jersey Surf defeated The Northfield Cardinals 4 to 3 in 8 innings on Thursday night to improve to 9 and 2 on the season. Cameron Mathes pitched the final 3 innings in relief giving up 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 3. Michael Dodd was the tough luck loser going the distance for The Cards giving up 4 run on 8 hits striking out 6. Antonio Caraballo had the game winning single for the walk off. Colin Lombardo was 2 for 3 with a run scored and Nick Nutile added 2 hits in 3 at bats for The Surf. For the Cards Justin Klemic had a big solo homer in the top of the 8th giving The Cards a temporary lead. The Cards dropped to 7 and 3 on the season and are home tonight against the Ocean City Water Dogs.
