The Northfield Cardinals took a pair from The Somers Point Captains on Thursday night to improve to 9 and 5 on the season. In game one The Cards won 11 to 8 with Ben Bradt picking up the win on the mound. JJ Swentkowski was 1 for 1 with a 2 run homer. CJ Brown was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored and Tommy Burns was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Jay Lawrence was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs. Mark Elliott was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored for The Captains. In game two The Cards won 5 to 1 behind an outstanding performance on the mound by Brandon Riggs. Riggs gave up a solo homer on the first pitch of the game to Mark Elliot and then did not allow another hit the rest of the game going 6 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit striking out 10. Jay Lawrence was the hitting star for The Cards going 2 for 2 with a double and homer driving in 2 runs. Tommy Burns was 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs. The Cards are at EHT Eagles tonight at 730 and The Captains will host The Ventnor Baysox.
